Seun Adigun of the University of Houston, a chicago native born to Nigerian parents, has been named the 2009 Conference USA Female Track Athlete of the Year .

Adigun, who emerged as one of America's elite hurdlers this National Colleagiate Athletics Association (NCAA) season, will enter the NCAA Midwest Regional ranked third with a time of 12.98 in the 100m hurdles - second-fastest time in school history.

She also recorded that personal-best and winning performance at the Penn Relays and recently won her second career C-USA title with a finish of 13.11, earning All C-USA first team honors.

Adigun also has set regional marks in the 100m and 200m and as a member of the conference-leading 4x100 metres relay team (44.30), which ranks eighth in the US

She is the third female at the University of Houston to take home this award, joining Jenny Adams (1997) and Ebonie Floyd (2006, 2007).

The 22-year-old is a niece of former University of Houston All-American basketball star, Nigerian -born Hakeem Olajuwon.

The Nigerian federation sees her as a prospect for the country and are wooing her to run for her parents' country...so what do you think? Should Nigeria go for this talented prodigy to compete for the African country?

HAVE YOUR SAY.
