The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has confirmed the listed events for the IAAF Abuja Super Grand Prix meet scheduled for July 18, 2009 in the Nigerian capital city.

According to a statement from the secretary general of the AFN, Maria Wophill, the Abuja Super Grand Prix will also serve as a relay scoring event.

"The relays has been approved by the IAAF as qualifying relays towards the IAAF World Athletics Championships in Berlin, Germany," she noted.

The programme of events are as follows:

Men:

100m, 400m, 110mH, 800m, 5000m, Javelin, Long Jump, Triple Jump, 4x100m and 4x400m.

Women:

100m, 400m, 1500m, 100mH, Shot Put, Long Jump, 4x100m and 4x400m.

The Abuja Super Grand Prix was earlier scheduled for May 5, but was later postponed due to many reasons, not least the fact that the AFN board has not yet been consistuted then.
