The Nigerian and Kenyan junior athletics teams to the 12th IAAF World Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland, has arrived in the Polish city.

The Nigerian team is led by Beijing bound 2008 All Nigerian 400m champion Folashade Abugan who will also anchor the 4x100m relay team.

Other members of the team are: Agnes Osazuwa, who was fourth in the 100m in 11.46secs and will also be in Beijing for the relays, Susan Akene and Gloria Bassey.

The men's team include, UK based Femi Owolade, Ufomba Chimere, Noah Akwu, Victor Isaiah and Kunle Odelusi,

Meanwhile, the Kenyans, who are the defending champions, are beaming with confidence as the team held a light training session at the 22,000 Zdzislaw Krzyszkowiak Stadium this morning.

The Kenyans are here with World junior 800m silver medallist, Winny Chebet and for the men, the reigning national 800m champion Geoffrey Kibet and Felix Konchellah, a son of legendary 800m runner Billy Konchellah, who had both ran 1:47.1 seconds and 1:49.0 seconds respectively this season.

But, the Kenyan coaches are also cautious of the threat posed by the Sudanese wonder kid and African 800 metres champion Abubakar Kaki.

Kaki, who is the currently fastest man this season in the two lap race with a time of 1:42.69 seconds is using the World Junior meet as a test rehearsal for the Olympics Games in Beijing next month.
