Yomi Omogbeja is a graduate of the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom where he received an MA in Web Journalism in 2004.
AthleticsAfrica.Com is a 'spin-off' of his final semester dissertation for the Masters of Arts award.
In July 2004, Yomi completed a two-month Cultural Envoy for Educational Development (CEED) as Alumni web content provider for the ECOLEAD project on AIESEC.net, an EU collaborative project on virtual organisations, learning networks and professional virtual communities, at the AIESEC International headquarters in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
He has also taken part in various team collaborations to develop online sites, information systems analysis, usability research and survey.
Yomi was the Business Editor for Sheffield24, which was nominated for the Press Gazette student journalism team of the year 2004. He was also a Finalist in the individual student online journalist of the year category.
He has also worked in Africa for three years as an Online Correspondent covering Nigeria and West Africa for the Houston-based online petroleum news source Oil and Gas International Incorporated.
During this period, he personally interviewed CEO’s of many multinational oil firms, state ministers, high commissioners, politicians and lobbyists.
A recipient of the Chevening postgraduate award in 2003, Yomi had completed work-placements at the Daily Telegraph in Canary Wharf, London; Northcliffe Electronic Publishing Company Holdthefrontpage.co.uk in Derby and Leeds-based Orange Multimedia Company Ananova.com.
Yomi holds a second-class upper Bachelors degree in Guidance and Counselling Psychology and a Masters degree in Sports Psychology from the Nigerian premier University of Ibadan.
He is a former university and state junior athlete and holds the UK Athletics level 1 coaching certificate and Sportscoach UK Child protection award.
