Ugandan mountain runners have thrown down the gauntlet to the rest of the world and African nations who will be coming for the 7th Obudu international mountain race and the third African mountain running championships holding at the Obudu Ranch Resort, Cross River State on November 28.

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) Secretary General, Maria Worphil has revealed her federation's preparedness to organize the best mountain race in the world when the 7th Obudu International Mountain Race and the 3rd African Mountain Running Championships hold on November 28th at the Obudu Ranch Resort, Cross-Rivers State.

Nigeria was the best country in athletics at 2011 All-African Games in Maputo, Mozambique with 38 medals (17 Golds, 11 Silvers and 10 Bronze medals). 

Nigerian Triple Jump champion, Otonye Iworima is unfazed about the difficult conditions in Maputo insisting that nothing would deny her winning gold when the athletics and field events kick-off on September 11.
