21ST NIGERIA NNPC/MOBIL TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS - DAY THREE 26TH JUNE, 2010

Reigning Nigerian women's sprint champion, Blessing Okagbare and 2008 men's 100m champion, Obinna Metu both won their respective events comfortably on the 2nd day of the 21st Nigeria NNPC/Mobil Track and Field Championships in Calabar, Cross Rivers State.

Selim Nurudeen (110mHurdles, 13.87secs) and William Kefas (10,000m, 30:48.28) are early winners on Day 1 of the 21st ExxonMobil Nigeria Track and Field Championships cum Commonwealth Games/African Senior Athletics Trials in Calabar, Cross River State.

This past month, the news, not fully unexpected though, filtered in. Africa has lost yet another talented athlete. This time the Cameroonian double Olympics Triple Jump medalist, Francoise Mbango Etone, has finally changed nationality to France.

Here we go again, it's the time of the year isn't it. The World Cross Country Championships is here again, and as usual the campaign of calumny against the IAAF and African successes at these championships is at full flow.

With three days to go to the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Bydgoszcz (28 March), Entry Lists for the men's and women's races (junior and senior) are now available.

Alhaji Abdul Karim Ohimai Amu, the longest-serving President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), who had influenced the athletics career of many and was an icon of Nigerian athletics, has died at the age of 77.
